Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

Short Profile

Equal opportunity for women and men is a key concern of the University of Zurich. The principle of gender equality has long been anchored in several fundamental legal and strategic documents. On 20 March 2006 the Executive Board of the University decided to implement the Gender Policy Code of Conduct (seven principles), signifying its commitment to a culture of genuine equal opportunity. The Office for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion promotes networking opportunities to enable the seven principles of the Gender Policy Code of Conduct to be implemented.

Sexual Harassment

The University of Zurich has enacted a set of regulations to protect its members from sexual harassment. While based on the assumption that all University members treat each other with respect, this does not mean that human interaction at the University should be distanced, purely professional, and formal. On the contrary, the aim is for both genders to interact in a friendly and relaxed way. However, the regulation clearly states that sexual harassment is prohibited and will not be tolerated.

What is sexual harassment?

Any conduct that violates or degrades a person on the basis of their gender and is perceived as undesirable by the person concerned.
